Privacy policy

You are being invited to take part in the activities carried out within the European funded project B-THENET -Best practices and innovations for a sustainable beekeeping (G.A 101059812). Before you decide to take part to the project activities, it is important you understand what is doing the project and how you will be involved. Please take time to read the following information carefully.

Description of the Project

B-THENET is a four-year project (started in September 2022), which will:
  1. Modernize EU beekeeping sector by establishing a multi actor network with complementary knowledge that connects: beekeepers, researchers, advisors, and the other actors of the apiculture sector;
  2. Collect, categorize (“Inventory”) and select good practices and new research findings ready to put into practice or not sufficiently known using a bottom-up methodology;
  3. Create a digital knowledge platform (“Exchange”) to increase the flow of practical information in the EU
  4. Create a digital knowledge platform (“Repository”) to collect, share and store knowledge on best practices, for the long term.

Through a series of activities:

  • Best Beekeeping Practices and innovation collection from networks and research project results
  • Community Building organizing periodical events for stakeholders
  • Categorization of priority practices through the following criteria: type of beekeepers' knowledge needed; the type of beekeeper’s interest; the production line involved; the EU climatic area where the practice can be adopted; GBPs or BMBs categories (according to the FAO/OIE Guidelines).
  • National B-THENET Centres establishment and on-field validation
  • Validation of practices with the contribution of the activated National B-THENET Centres
  • Standardisation the Best Beekeeping Practice concept and compile practice abstracts (EIP-AGRI format) on identified Best Beekeeping Practices
  • Translate Best Beekeeping Practices outputs (defined by the sociological studies) into 15 languages
  • Production of a B-THENET kit for beekeepers composed of audio-visual assets published as a library; VR/R tutorial/interactive courses on selected best practices explaining how to implement them; infographics of the practices organised in a library.
  • Development of the following Platforms: “Best Practices Platform”, “Research & Innovation Platform”, “Exchange Platform” and of the “Repository platform
  • International B-THENET Centres establishment able to maximise the outcomes and increase the information flow at EU level.
  • Awareness and engagement of the technical and social audience through training and awareness-raising events
  • Social media awareness and public engagement activities to involve beekeepers, advisors and stakeholders

Project Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can manage, and your information. This privacy policy governs the use of your personal data by B-THENET PROJECT that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101059812.

Kind of Data collected

In order to perform these activities, some personal information will be collected and then stored either in the project Databases (e.g. when you subscribe for the B-THENET newsletter or register on the Platform) or at one of the B-THENET beneficiary premises (legal address) if you subscribe during any of the event organised by the project. This could include function/title, name, surname, email, age, country, position in the organisation, working sector, photo, video, audio, your personal opinions. For the meeting organization travel data (hotel, hour and date of arriving, hour and date of departure), dietary requests and the list of the meetings you have accepted, declined, postponed on the virtual platform with other participants, the list of sessions you have registered to will be collected and stored. For any research activity, you will decide to participate in you will be presented with a specific privacy policy as per articles 13 and 14 of the GDPR. For minors, the information collected and stored could be: name and photo. A specific informed consent will be asked to be signed by the parents (or the legal guardian). There are specific data protection measures adopted in these particular cases.

Processing and Storing of your Data

Your data will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (available at https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2016/679/oj). All information collected about you will be kept strictly confidential. Your data will be stored in a safe and lockable place either at the LOBA, APRE, IZSLT’s facilities (partners responsible for developing the project splash page, website and Platform if you subscribe for the B-THENET newsletter) or any other beneficiary’s facility (if you subscribe during any event organised by the project). Only the B-THENET beneficiaries will have access to this information. At the end of the project, by August 2026, your personal data will be destroyed unless you agree to let us continue to use it for other research purposes (Art.89 GDPR). If a publication is not finished by this date, the data may continue to be used until the work is finalized. Processed data might survive the project, as it may become part of publications and other dissemination activities. The sole purpose of storing your data is for project activities.

Dissemination of Results

The data stored will be used for research purposes. This includes deliverable submission, publications, the creation of a Community on the Platforms, dissemination of B-THENET results and events.


Each B-THENET beneficiary has its own ethical rules, taking into account the Art.15 of European Grant Agreement and national legislation. IZSLT, the B-THENET Coordinator, APRE and LOBA will gladly answer all your questions on Data Protection and the Ethics Code applied in the B-THENET project and all the beneficiaries at info@BTHENET.EU.

Data Breach

In case of a data breach, each beneficiary will immediately inform the Coordinator, IZSLT, APRE and LOBA. In any situation, the event will be handled as per artt. 33-34 of the EU 2016/679 GDPR.Together they will undertake all steps necessary to minimize any possible negative consequences.

Data sharing and re-use

The data stored will be used for the activities relating to the B-THENET. Moreover, the data would be shared and used for other EU projects that may benefit from them after pseudonymization or anonymization. This includes their processing for research purposes and dissemination activities. Your data will, under no circumstances, be sold to any third party.

Disclosure of your Data

Your personal data will be disclosed with the B-THENET Consortium and no other Third Parties except for in cases where such sharing is necessary as part of our regular operations or to support you (e.g. in case B-THENET organises an event in an Institutional Entity who requites visitors’ personal data for security proposes). Your data will not be sent to countries outside of the European Union.
You will be able to require the list of Third Parties to the Coordinator.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for correction and/or deletion of your data and you can restrict the processing of your data, as granted in GDPR Article 15 -22. You can also withdraw your consent at any time according to GDPR Article 6(1) and Article 9(2) without any consequences sending an email. If requested, your local supervisory authority will provide you information on exercising your right according to Article 57(e) GDPR.

If you decide to participate in our project, we would like to thank you in advance. However, you are perfectly free to decline our invitation to take part in the project.
