B-THENET is the EU thematic network for sustainable beekeeping. Its mission is to collect Best Beekeeping Practices and innovations and share them with  EU beekeepers, advisors, and other stakeholders on the first digital platform for European beekeepers, to modernise apiculture and foster a resilient and more competitive sector.  

With this objective in mind, a survey was created to gather valuable information on good beekeeping practices and innovations and discuss them among beekeepers, advisors, and other stakeholders in languages through our digital platforms.

Each year, we target different beekeeping themes. For 2024, Colony set-up and daily management/maintenance as well as American foulbrood will be the focus of the project.

This survey is part of the project’s bottom-up approach and is meant to rate the most relevant practices and innovations within these categories.

We are thrilled to announce that the B-THENET project will be present at the Apimondia 2023 event, in Santiago Chile from the 4th to the 8th of September!

Apimondia is the International Organization of Beekeeping Associations that brings together scientists, specialists and beekeepers from around the world and this year Chile will host this international event.

B-THENET will be participating in the 48th Apimondia Congress, which is being held in Santiago, the capital of Chile. This event is of great importance and value.

So don’t forget to check out our B-THENET project stand! We will be there to showcase our work and answer any questions you may have. It’s definitely worth stopping by to learn more.

This event will have 3 days focused on: 

• Sustainable beekeeping in a changing world
• Value-added products from the hive
• Land use, biodiversity and beekeeping

This survey aims to investigate honey consumption in the EU and assess consumers’ awareness of good beekeeping practices, that favour a more sustainable production of honey.
